The country house, Agriturismo Santo Pietro, is an oasis of natural beauty surrounded by the silver-green olive groves that cover the gently rolling Sabine Hills. This pristine ancient land has long been the home of the farmhouse-fortress which the Benedictine monks of Farfa built above pre-existing Roman ruins in the middle ages. The farmhouse long served as a first line of defense for one of Europe's most powerful abbeys.
Over the past two centuries Santo Pietro has been transformed into a flourishing farm, thanks to the passion and care of the Corradini-Rocci family who blended classical culture with agrarian activities.
Their heirs have carried on the tradition of high culture and bucolic living with the same dedication and love that theirancestors instilled in them.
Life at the Agriturismo Santo Pietro means a return to the beauties of nature, a rediscovery of the splendid colors and scents of the orchards and fields, while staying in a tastefully renovated farmhouse that guarantees the greatest of comfort and relaxation. Sunlit single and double rooms, as well as apartments with terraces and balconies are available.
Guests can sunbathe while admiring the beautiful Sabine landscape during the day, or enjoy leisurely walks in the magic of the Mediterranean twilight.
At the Agriturismo Santo Pietro guests can strolling through the cool shade of the olive groves. They can also observe the daily activities of a working farm. Tourism and culture come together at Santo Pietro where guests can visit the Farfa Abbey, see the largest olive tree in Europe, visit the beautiful historic center of the village of Fara Sabina, or the ruins of the ancient city of Cures, once the capital of the Sabine people and home of Numa Pompilius, as well as the site of the legendary "Rape of the Sabine Women". Also to be found are the Romanesque church of Santa Vittoria in the nearby village of Monteleone, and the Franciscan Sanctuaries of the Valle Santa, the snow capped peaks of Mount Terminillo. All this and more at only 35 km. from the Eternal City - Rome. |
